Editorial

The responsibility of a film and video editor is to put all the raw footage for what they are shooting, in to their editing program, and create a final finished product that can be screened on either TV or radio. Realistically the material would include footage, dialogue, audio, special effects and graphics. To get all these jobs done, an editor wouldn't work aloe, as he would have a whole team of people helping him out. But there will always be one main person that would oversee it all. Some productions have their own set of editors, or they may call in other editors to do some freelance work, and have a lot of experience editing things such as music videos. The process the editors would go through would be to watch all the footage, cut shots that correspond with each other, create rough cuts or rough edits, and determining what can be done to improve the next and final cut. They will analyse it thoroughly to see if there is any errors, and once this is done sound will be imported in to it and it will all be synchronised together into one file, and you have the finsihed product. It requires a lot of patience and concentration which is why production company's prefer to freelance people who have lots of experience.
